Let Your Sword Take Flight in this Rebooted Hack-N-Slash Game

Armed with Wings: Rearmed is a fast-paced, 2D hack-n-slash platformer video game by Sun-Studios. The redesigned version of the original 2008 online Adobe Flash game, Armed with Wings: Rearmed was made available on Steam in 2017, to bring the beloved action game series to the forefront of the gaming big leagues. It was a love letter to the older titles in the series, adding more story content to the game and more challenges to face. You play as a resurrected samurai warrior, who can use both his sword and his eagle to defeat the many foes in the plagued land of Blackmist.

Feathers vs. Steel

The Armed with Wings series is pretty simple in its concept. It’s a side-scroller hack-n-slash game wherein you fight against hordes of enemies coming at you. Armed with Wings: Rearmed has the same story as Armed with Wings 1, but with more in-depth cutscenes. The plot follows the decision of the gods to resurrect the strongest fallen warrior in order to defeat the evil King Vandheer and end his reign of terror in Blackmist. Back from the dead, you’ve been given the power to wield lightning and thunder with your blade—plus, you get an eagle friend whom you can control if you need to solve any strange puzzles, collect any hard-to-reach objects, and distract your numerous enemies. With the gorgeous black, white, and gray environment of Blackmist, you get to explore over 40 handcrafted levels filled with all kinds of deadly opponents and puzzles, before facing off against your ultimate nemesis, Vandheer. Outside of the main campaign, you can play a survival mode that can be similarly found in the game’s free online demo, Rearmed Trials. There’s also a multiplayer mode to compete against other players. This game even supports the Xbox gamepad, if you’d like to use a console controller. All in all, this is a fitting introduction of the series to new fans and a great nostalgia trip for old ones.
